This restaurant is truly just amazing, when entering the restaurant we were greeted. And we waited around 45 minutes for a seat, which is a regular time for a classy restaurant like this. Once we were seated we got the menu, the options on the menu are superb. After we finished ordering, immediately we got our food. It had not been even 5 minutes and we got our food, it was warm and flavorful. We were out of that restaurant in 15 minutes because we got our food quickly. Wanted to note that a worker was carrying around extra curries and sauces in case you wanted more, this was exceptional because whenever you wanted something you would get chances to get it. The prices were reasonable but low because of how good the quality of the food was. The ambience was also just wonderful, the rangoli pictures on the wall, and the intricate lights made the restaurant look welcoming. There was also little to no noise in the restaurant making the experience better.

We visited this place on a Saturday night. It was quite crowded, a long wait but was worth it. It took us about 40 mins to get table. It was easy to find parking. Ambience is nice and clean. We ordered filter coffee, idli, vada, thatte idli, ghee dosa, masala dosa, plain dosa and paper dosa. Everything tasted fresh and delicious. Service was quite fast and people are friendly. It's also reasonably priced.

Made the hike from Fremont finally to eat at Mylapore Pleasanton on a Sat eve. We are a frequent visitor of idli express Fremont but we miss the sit down experience. The drive was well worth it. As usual food was awesome and the staff is very friendly. We had the infamous Benne masala dosa and the personalized coffee in addition to other dosas, Parotta kurma and kothu Parotta. Sambar and tomato chutney were very tasty. Glad to see the quality is maintained across the locations. The ambiance is simple and it is a busy place. So, don't expect it to be quiet and romantic. Bathrooms are clean and staff is courteous. On what can be better, I wish the allergens were called out for the menu items ( primarily nuts and dairy ) like other restaurants. The coffee line is popular and it collides with the POS terminal next to it. May be it can be moved a bit so that both POS terminals are easy to get to.

One of the best South Indian restaurants in the bay! (Caveat it still won't beat a good homemade dosa - but it's close). I feel the need to specify against those leaving harsher reviews that the food is great because it reminds me of a homemade meal NOT beats it. For non Indians - this place only serves South Indian home style meals. Dosa is an Indian savory rice crepe, idli is a small hand size cake made of the same batter, and they serve a few other dishes. They have a good selection of dosas - I'd mainly recommend the ghee podi (butter and spice powder mix) and masala dosa (a spiced potato filling). The place is semi self serve but staff is very nice and there is lots of seating. Note: - gets very crowded in peak hours - happy hour is 3-6 where all dosas are 9$

Mylapore has easily replaced all our previous go-to South Indian breakfast restaurants and become our first choice. I'd be happy to go back just for the Thatte Idly! Dosa is made crispy and the accompanying masala and chutneys are delicious. My favorite would be the rava dosa and the ghee Podi dosa. Also tried the benne masala dosa once but it wasn't the same as what you get in Bangalore. This is mostly a self-serve restaurant, they only bring the food to your table. The operations are streamlined and we didn't have to wait for too long any of our visits. We chose to skip eating here once due to long lines of waiting. Highly recommend!!

Very popular South Indian cafe. You order at the counter and they bring your food to you. The best thing about Mylapore is it authentically evokes the atmosphere of a South Indian temple town. Especially in the morning hours, with the sun streaming in, Carnatic music or Vedic chanting playing in the background, the syrupy taste of strong filter coffee, dosas rich with pure ghee. It really gives you that sacred South India feel. The food is uneven. The standouts are benne dosa and filter coffee. I loved the benne dosa, which is a thick, rich crusty butter dosa. Ghee podi idli is great and so are vadas. Yet pongal is insipid, sambar and chutneys are mediocre, idlis are basic.

TLDR : Great food, nice ambience, quick service Mylapore is a great place for authentic South Indian food. This place was highly recommended and we decided to try it out. We really loved the dosas and sambhar was really good and thick (not diluted and watery as some other places). The parota was nice and really loved the kurma. The Andra Kaara was our favorite and had a nice spicy punch to it! Overall great experience

Food: delish. Very vegan bff. Three of us ordered Idly Vadai combo, onion Tomato Chili Uthappam, spring dosa, vegan filter coffee, spicy buttermilk. $64 with tip. Everything was delish but especially loved the flavorful sambur, idly (tender and bouncy, like food equivalent of squishmallows), vadai (super flavorful and tender crumbed), spicy buttermilk (perk up tastebuds, def order again when it's not so cold outside). Spring dosa - first time I've had dosa with this filling, interesting but maybe not order again. Tho would def get dosa again because the texture was so good. (*they have dosa happy hour). Uthappam was comfort food. Service: put your name in with your phone # and preference for indoor/outdoor, get a text in a few minutes if you choose outdoor on a cold windy day when the wait for indoors is 45-60 minutes. We were dressed for cold so we sat outdoors with a heat lamp. Hot vegan filter coffee helps. Ordered and paid inside in one line. Another line to pick up the coffees. Wait back at your table for food to arrive quickly. Ambiance: strip mall diner. You're not here for the pretty decor. You're here for a wonderful breakfast/lunch. The kind of place I would schedule any errands nearby around lunchtime (we don't live nearby). Appreciated a relatively clean and stocked bathroom even with the amount of folks coming through.
